Stan Steele has a bachelor of arts from California State University of Long Beach and 75 units above his degree in music and education.  He has taught from the elementary through college levels for the last 38 years.  He taught high school instrumental music, band, orchestra, jazz and marching band for 24 years and orchestra for the 14 years while he was the coordinator of visual and performing arts for the Irvine Unified School District.  While teaching at Irvine High School as the director of instrumental music he was named high school teacher of the year in 1988, and is a former president of the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association.  He started the instrumental music department at Irvine Valley College and conducted their band for four years.

He has been teaching private French horn lessons for the past 45 years and loves passing on the skills and knowledge that are essential for being a quality horn player.  He believes that playing an instrument should be enjoyable, and that it takes a consistent effort on the part of the student to make progress.  He is in constant demand as a clinician and guest conductor and currently provides support for new music teachers in the Irvine Unified District and with student teachers from the University of California of Irvine.

Stan has been teaching French Horn at Coast Band Music for 2 years.  He is also available for students interested in developing their skills as conductors.
