Phil Keen has a BA in Music from Cal State, Long Beach and a Masters degree from the University of Michigan.  He has studied with such greats as Jeff Reynolds, Dennis Smith, Loren Marsteller and John Hollenbeck.

As a freelance musician, he performs regularly with many California orchestras and opera companies, such as the Fresno Philharmonic, the Monterey County Symphony,  the New Century Brass and the Americus Brass Band.  He has recorded soundtracks for Warner Bros., MGM/Lorimar, Columbia and Turner Pictures in Hollywood. 

Along with his teaching duties at Coast Band Music, he teaches at Riverside City College, Southern California College and Mater Dei High School.
