Mr. Davis started studying drums at the age of nine.  During the Korean War, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and spent thirty years performing music with concert bands, marching bands, dance bands and small jazz combos. His Marine Band duties ranged from Percussionist to Band Leader to Drum Major.

On retiring from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1982, Mr. Davis  went back to school and got his Teaching credential.  He taught percussion  at Saddleback Community College and performed with the Chapman University Symphony Orchestra and Irvine Valley College.  Mr. Davis was also the Percussion Coach at the Hsi Lai Buddhist Temple’s Light Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Davis has been teaching at Coast Band Music for more than twenty years.  Study with him and you’ll appreciate his motto:  Never say, “I can’t do it!”.
